An immersive 4WD navigation adventure set in the historic goldfields—combining exploration, problem-solving, and a strong base camp experience.
OVERVIEW
Set in and around Guildford, the Goldfields event builds on the Amazing Race format with added layers of storytelling, atmosphere, and shared experience.
Navigation remains at the core, but this event goes further—blending traditional checkpoint hunting with creative challenges and a more structured weekend flow.
Located just 1.5–2 hours from Melbourne, it’s an easy and accessible way to experience the Amazing Race.
THE EXPERIENCE
Each day, teams head out to explore the course—using maps, coordinates, and clues to locate checkpoints and complete challenges.
The terrain is more varied than Wimmera, with tighter tracks and changing conditions that reward preparation and good decision-making.
Back at camp, the focus shifts to the social side of the event—sharing stories, comparing strategies, and enjoying the atmosphere with other teams.

For additional supplies, fuel, and food, Castlemaine is just 15 minutes away.
This setup creates a relaxed and social base camp that supports the full weekend experience.
MORNINGS & ATMOSPHERE
The Goldfields event offers a more hosted experience.
Cooked breakfasts are provided each morning, creating an easy start to the day before heading out on the course.
Evenings at camp are a key part of the event—bringing teams together in a relaxed, social environment.
FAMILY FRIENDLY
The Amazing Race Goldfields is designed to be enjoyed by the whole family.
Younger participants can get involved with their own simplified course notes, follow along with the adventure, and even compete for their own trophies.
Evening activities at camp help keep everyone engaged, creating a welcoming environment for all ages.
The weekend finishes with a full camp gathering, including a buffet dinner and presentation night where results are revealed and trophies are awarded.
VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
The Goldfields event is suited to standard 4WD vehicles, with terrain that can be more varied and technical in places.
All-terrain tyres are recommended to ensure the best experience across the course.
No extreme modifications are required—just a well-prepared vehicle and a sense of adventure.
TIMING
Held over the Melbourne Cup long weekend (Saturday to Monday), this event offers flexibility in how you plan your trip.
With its close proximity to Melbourne, teams can arrive Friday evening or even on the morning of the event.
Many teams choose to extend their stay into the Tuesday public holiday—turning it into a longer getaway and making the most of the time away.
